Dental caps, or crowns, are an affordable way to restore the strength, appearance and size of a decayed or weakened natural tooth. They also provide added protection against cavities, help maintain the structure of the remaining natural tooth, and can improve chewing, speaking and more.
At Walding & Associates, we have years of experience treating a wide range of dental conditions and have fitted patients of nearly every age with dental caps to help improve the appearance and function of their natural teeth.
A fairly simple procedure, a permanent crown does typically require at least two dental visits. During the initial visit, the dentist will take molds of your teeth to accurately measure the surface of the remaining tooth. He or she may also initiate the preparation of the natural tooth by filing it down and prepping it for the placement of the permanent cap. Often, a temporary cap will be put into place during this initial visit. The dentist will then have the mold sent out to have your permanent crown customized to your natural bite.
During your second appointment, your dentist will be able to permanently affix the permanent cap onto your remaining tooth, test for natural bite accuracy, and make adjustments to the bite of your crown as needed until you achieve a perfect fit.
In addition to dental caps, Walding & Associates offers a wide range of other dental services such as the following:
